Jason Joe McGhee “Jay” or “JJ,” 50 years old of Morristown, went peacefully to be with our Lord on Monday, April 20, 2026, surrounded by loved ones.
He was born on April 1, 1976, in Knoxville to Pam McGhee. He loved the Lord and was on fire for Jesus. He wanted to make sure everyone he talked to was saved and ready to go to Heaven. One last thing he said was “I am going to run to see Jesus.” He was a talker and he is talking up a storm to Jesus right now. He loved his family and was friends with everyone. He had a great smile, and everyone liked him instantly.
He was preceded in death by his mom, Pamela Jo McGhee; papaw, Thomas Joe McGhee; and aunt, Lisa Renee McGhee.
He is survived by his children, Austin McGhee, Jaedyn Davies, Malaki McGhee, and Malayah McGhee; granddaughter, Rosita Davies; siblings, Jessica (Ramie) Williams, Lucas (Danielle) Ridley, and Joshua (Shauna) Ridley; mamaw, Carolyn Fields; aunts, Linda Stoffer, and Lori (Danny) Frazier; special cousin/best friend, Matt Matthews; and several cousins that were like siblings; several nieces and nephews that he loved very much.
He will be missed by many friends.
We would like to thank Gentiva Hospice, and Morristown-Hamblen Healthcare System, for taking such good care of him in his final days. We would like to thank his friend/neighbor, Dennis Barker, for also taking care of him.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, May 9, 2026, at 5:00 p.m. at Everhart Baptist Church, Knoxville, TN with Austin McGhee and Ramie Williams officiating.
Arrangements by Stetzer-Bales Funeral Home.
