John “Johnny” Curtis Carpenter, II, 69, of Morristown, Tennessee, passed away peacefully at his home on April 20, 2026.
Johnny was born on October 31, 1956, to John Curtis “JC” and Ida Lou Carpenter. A lifelong resident of Morristown, he graduated from Morristown East High School in 1974 and went on to proudly serve his community for more than 30 years with the Morristown Fire Department. Through his years of dedicated service, he rose to the rank of Battalion Chief before retiring to spend time with his family and friends.
Johnny was a Harley-Davidson enthusiast who enjoyed cross-country trips on his bike, exploring some of our country’s most beautiful terrain. He also enjoyed fishing—whether it was lake, pond, river, or ocean—and would learn everything he could to make the most of each excursion. Above all, he loved his family and friends. He found special joy in bringing his grandchildren candy, attending their games, going to concerts with his sons, and gathering to cook and share meals with those he loved.
Johnny was preceded in death by his dear parents, John Curtis “JC” and Ida Lou Carpenter.
He is survived by his partner of 12 years, Semeda Chastain; sons, John (Kasey) Carpenter, III, and Matthew (Jessica) Carpenter; cherished grandchildren, Mckenzie Carpenter, Connor Foster, Matthew Carpenter, James Smith, Silas Foster, Cameron Carpenter, and Emery Carpenter; and newest precious addition, great-granddaughter Wrenley Wolfe.
Funeral services will be held at Stetzer-Bales Funeral Home, 146 E Main St, on Friday, April 24, 2026, at 7:00 P.M. with Chaplain Don Lamb of the Morristown Fire Department officiating. The family will receive friends from 5 – 7 P.M. prior to the service. Graveside services will be held Saturday, April 25, 2026, 11:00 A.M. at Hamblen Memory Gardens, 5421 E Andrew Johnson Hwy.
